The 17th World Social Forum was held in Cotonou, Benin from August 4th to 9th 2026. Delegates from 128 countries participated. The event brought together social movements and Civil Society Organizations of the world including Sustaining All Life (SAL).
The aim of the event was to have a global, open and inclusive space for connection, formulation of proposals, sharing of experiences and networking of initiatives that oppose the dominant forms of exploitation, exclusion and supremacy.
This was done under 15 thematic categories, including decolonization & sovereignty , ecological crises,climate justice and just Transition.
SAL had a delegation of 9 people, and led the following events: Staying Hopeful as we face the climate crisis, The climate crisis in Africa, How to lead listening circles and introduction to the tools of Sustaining All life. We were very well received and made many meaningful connections.
