Painted accordion style book with signatures(folded booklets) sewn into the folds.
On the Cover the text boarder reads, (from Top, right side, left side, bottom):
SOLIDARITY - UNITY - CONNECTION - RE(X)IST - LIVE - IMAGINE - CREATE - PRACTICE- REMEMBER - FEEL - EXPRESS - SHARE - CRY - SHAKE - LAUGH - PRAY - MOVE - LOVE -
LETS END THE RULING CLASS TOGETHER
As a young person i used journals and sketchbooks to expression myself, my creativity.
This book was created as an ode to what i want in the world and a place for me to process my connection to all i love with a emphasis on water, who i feel deeply connected to.
I made the book accordion style because it is a way codices, ancient manuscripts, were bound by indigenous peoples in Mexico, where my ancestry is rooted. I added the signatures which are more like the notebooks/sketchbooks I grew up with.
